Football has been played in Baltinglass since the foundation of the Gaelic Athletic Association. In the early years the club played under the name of Maurice Davins but achieved little in the way of success on the field of play, and from time to time disappeared from Wicklow inter-club activity. The first real success for the club came in 1913, when playing under the banner of Baltinglass Shamrocks, they won the delayed 1912 Wicklow Junior title -- the final of which was played in Croke Park. Lean years followed the winning of the Junior title; the next championship to come to the town was in 1927 when the Wicklow Senior Hurling title was won. Football had fallen away in the town in the early thirties but in 1934 a meeting was held to re-establish the club and out of this the seeds of the present club were planted.

Our greatest achievement on the playing fields was winning the All Ireland Senior Club Football Championship on the 17th of March 1990 - A wonderful day for everybody connected to Baltinglass GAA Club.
We have also enjoyed winning Wicklow Championships in every grade we have participated in, over the years - from Senior right down to U12s.
Baltinglass GAA Club extend a very sincere Thank You to all our very hard-working volunteers who have helped make our Club one of the best in the country - both on and off the field. As well as winning championships we can also be very proud of our wonderful playing facilities @ Newtownsaunders, Baltinglass, Co. Wicklow.
We once again thank our main sponsors - Quinns of Baltinglass - for their very generous sponsorship for 2009. Quinns of Baltinglass have been loyal sponsors of our Club for many years and it is greatly appreciated.
On Saturday the 24th of January 2009 one of our most famous Club Members, Johnny Kenny, was awarded the Hall of Fame at the Wicklow GAA Sports Stars Awards night in the Bayview Hotel in Arklow. This is a wonderful achievement and one that Johnny is rightly proud of. Well done Johnny - you now join the elite 'Club of Five' Hall of Fame recipients - and it is very well deserved for all you voluntarily gave over the years as a Cub and County Player, as a Club and County Captain, as a Club Mentor, as our Club Secretary and as a top class Referee.
