Baltinglass Senior Championship 1980

Baltinglass entered this final as hot favourites against Blessington who were appearing in the Senior final a year after capturing the intermediate title. Blessington had the better of the opening exchanges and after five minutes the lead 0-2 to no score. Baltinglass eventually got into the game and in a low scoring first half lead 0-3 to 0-2 at half time. The game was over as a contest ten minutes into the second half when a Baltinglass scoring blitz yielded 1-5, the goal coming from Robert McHugh. Blessington could only mange 3 points in the second half and when the final whistle was blown Baltinglass were comfortable 1-10 to 0-5 winners.
