The victorious Baltinglass team after their All-Ireland win - A day never to be forgotten witihn our Club.

Baltinglass appearing in their first All-Ireland club final displayed no signs of nerves as we consigned Clan na nGael to their fourth consecutive final defeat and claimed the Andy Merigan Cup on a score line of 2-7 to 0-7. After a low scoring opening 20 minutes where Clann led 0-3 to 0-2 Baltinglass burst into life when Con Murphy scored the first of his two goals when he crashed a great left footed shot to the Clan net. A second goal from the same player soon after set Baltinglass on the road to victory and we led at the half time break - 2-2 to 0-5 after playing into the breeze. With Baltinglass dominant at midfield where Bill Kenny and Raymond Danne ruled the roost we kicked the points in the second half that allowed us to run out comfortable seven point winners at the end. All that was left was for Brian Fitzpatrick to collect the cup on what was definitely the clubs finest hour.
Brians speech said it all and captured the wonderful moment. The reception back in the town that night will never be forgotten by the huge crowds that assembled - even the pubs ran out of guinness!! and extra supplies were ferried in from neighbouring towns. This was a fantastic day in our Club's history. Well done to all involved - you made history within our Club and within our County.
